The Hairston Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 2017. It was created with the purpose of addressing the needs of the rapidly growing population of at-risk individuals, particularly seniors living in poverty, by connecting them to the services and supports necessary to help them achieve their potential and live with dignity and respect.
The Foundation recognizes that there are frequently seniors or individuals with chronic disabilities living in difficult conditions and who require additional support, access to programs, nutrition, and resources. The Foundation aims to meet these individuals’ basic human needs. The Foundation responds to these needs through several of its own programs and by creating access to existing resources in the communities right where people live.
The Hairston Foundation seeks to enhance access to community and government programs that improve their lives. While the Hairston Foundation does not directly deliver these vital services, they operate in the gap that exists between those services, the agencies that provide them, and the individuals who need them.
The belief that every individual deserves an opportunity for renewal drives the Hairston Foundation’s commitment to operating with integrity, transparency, and advocacy. In order to remain free to act in the best interests of those for whom the foundation serves, the organization never provides services that require payment from state or other agencies.
Ultimately the goal of the Hairston Foundation is simple: to get the right services, at the right time, to people who need them.
The Hairston Foundation will be launching its website on January 1, 2020. The website is designed to help visitors understand the goals and mission of the Foundation and easily find information about the various programs offered.
Throughout the month of January, our Hands From The Heart blog will be featuring some of the programs of the Hairston Foundation that help address the needs of a growing population of individuals living at or below the poverty level in Philadelphia and other urban areas.
Hands From The Heart is a proud partner of The Hairston Foundation and their advocacy for those that are most vulnerable and in need of care, including seniors, disabled veterans, and homebound individuals through their flagship programs. The Foundation’s mission ties in perfectly with what we do here at Hands From The Heart: providing non-medical home health care services to seniors and adults with physical disabilities, enabling those in need to continue to live in the comfort of their own home. If you believe that you or a loved one is in need of home care services, please visit our website at www.handsfromtheheart.org or give us a call at (484)-270-4501 to learn more about how we can help.
