Tracy Arnold, a mother, wife, and friend of many, was out to dinner on September 18, 2016. She was enjoying a nice glass of wine, and suddenly started to experience an excruciating headache.

She instantly started throwing up and experienced a pain she has never felt before in her entire life.

Five weeks later, she woke up in a hospital bed surrounded by her family with tears in their eyes.

Tracy had suffered a Stroke. Due to high blood pressure, and not taking her medication because of insurance changeover, she was in a coma for five long weeks.

Luckily, she had zero deficit after she woke up. She started a physical therapy regiment and needed to change her unhealthy lifestyle.

Tracy started exercising, eating healthy, and avoiding alcoholic drinks.

Tracy says that she, “only survived because of the love and support of my family, who stood by my side throughout my entire recovery process.”

Hands From The Heart Home Healthcare Services has taken an initiative to educate the communities we serve about Stroke and to raise awareness about Stroke Prevention. If a Stroke affects you or your family, we offer specialized Stroke Recovering Services with Non-Medical Caregivers trained in Stroke Recovery.

“I think it is wonderful that you guys are spreading awareness for Stroke symptoms and prevention,” Tracy said. “I truly loved having an assistant nurse come and check on me every day after I left the hospital to make sure I had everything I needed and that I was okay.”

Recent statistics show that 80% of Strokes are preventable, therefore, it is our job to spread the word about how our community members can help stop a Stroke from happening.

We offer Stroke presentations for senior centers, rehab facilities, assisted living communities, and more for facilities in the 13 counties that we serve to help their seniors stay informed.

We are conducting a Stroke campaign this week to help Stroke survivors share #theirstory with others through social media using the hashtag #StrokeIsNoJoke.

When talking to Tracy about our campaign, she couldn’t wait to share her #strokestory!

“Stroke is no joke, that is so true,” Tracy said.

Follow us on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram to share your #StrokeStory or read about our Stroke campaign, #StrokeIsNoJoke.

Thank you, Tracy, for sharing your #StrokeStory with us!
