Saira Hairston
Growing up as a little girl, Saira Hairston was always focused on helping others. She often spent time assisting the very young and the very old. It seemed like she sensed the vulnerabilities and needs in kids and seniors. After graduating from Temple University with a business degree, Saira attended Penn where she earned a master’s degree in Urban Planning. Her interest in serving others led her to seek a position with the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Health. During this time, Saira married her college sweetheart and started a family. When Saira’s family faced a difficult time that challenged their future, she turned to her faith in Christ and prayed for answers to help her and her family to move forward. It was then that the urge to serve others began to ignite anew.
Together with her husband, Saira decided that she would dedicate herself to assisting seniors, primarily low and moderate-income seniors, with home care services that would allow them to live independently in the community as long as possible with dignity and respect. Her first several events to get her newly formed agency off the ground would take place in the basement of a small church where she worshipped. Saira’s first client was a member of her church.
In the beginning, Saira performed every job imaginable from cleaning the homes of clients to being on call every night (7 days a week) for several years. Her hard work paid off. Today, Hands From The Heart Home Healthcare Services is one of the largest privately owned home care agencies in Pennsylvania with almost 500 employees and serving clients from Philadelphia to Harrisburg. Saira credits her success simply — according to her while the work has been hard at times, it has been a labor of love given by the grace of God.

FAQ's
Non-medical in-home care services focuses on helping seniors and people with disabilities with what are known as “activities of daily living” so that they can remain living safely at home in the community. Types of non-medical home care services include: bathing, grooming, transferring, toileting, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders and escorting to doctors’ appointments and errands.
There are a variety of ways to pay for non-medical home care, including through a state’s Medicaid Waiver Program, County OPTIONS Programs, long-term care insurance and private pay. The VA also pays for non-medical home care services for certain qualifying veterans and/or their surviving spouse.
These are state programs designed to provide services to people who would otherwise be required to enter an institution, nursing home or hospital to receive long-term care services. Medicaid Waivers allow these individuals to receive needed non-medical home care services at home without having to enter an institution. These services are provided at NO cost to qualified recipients.
We can start services immediately for clients being referred through a Medicaid Waiver program and normally within 24 hours for insurance and private pay clients.
